How does Talkspace protect my privacy?

At Talkspace, data privacy is our #1 priority. We go to great lengths to make sure both you and your personal information are kept safe and confidential.

Our technology is fully compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). All chat data on our servers, as well as all communication that happens between our software and the servers, is encrypted. For extra security, Talkspace allows members to enable two-factor authentication (2FA) in addition to their password at login. Members using the Talkspace app have the additional option of adding a passcode, which is required each time the app is accessed. Our iOS app also uses Touch ID and Face ID on enabled devices.

To protect confidentiality according to HIPAA, we require all users to create a unique nickname during the registration process. You can determine whether you want your provider to call you by your first name or nickname during treatment.

While Talkspace will not share your information with anyone, we do require every user to submit emergency contact information, which is only utilized according to safety and reporting mandates.
