How Do I Pause My Out-Of-Pocket Subscription/Plan?

On this page

Pausing your therapy plan

If your plan is through insurance benefits, EAP benefits, employer/school/city-sponsored benefits, pausing is not supported.

If you pay out-of-pocket for your therapy subscription, you can pause it for up to seven days. This is helpful if you’re unavailable for a short period of time or if your provider is on vacation.

When you pause your therapy plan:

  • Your billing date will automatically adjust when you unpause your subscription, extending by the number of days it was paused. This way, you won’t pay for any unused days. After unpausing, you can view your updated billing date on the Payment and plan screen.
  • Your scheduled live sessions won’t be canceled, but you won’t be able to join them during the pause period. You also won't be able to schedule any new live sessions until your plan is unpaused.
  • The pause period ends automatically after 7 days, so it's a good idea to set a reminder for yourself to check back if you need to extend it.

To place your therapy subscription on a seven-day hold:

  1. Log in at www.talkspace.com or on the Talkspace app.
  2. Click on Account (Account Icon.png) located on the top-right corner of the screen.
  3. Click on Payment and plan.
  4. Locate the plan you want to put on hold and click Pause therapy.
  5. Review the pause and resume dates, then click Pause therapy to complete the process.

Ending your pause early: If you'd like to restart your paused subscription early, follow steps 1-3 above and click the Resume therapy button on the Payment and plan page.

Pausing your psychiatry plan

Psychiatry plans are not subscription-based, so there’s no need to pause them. You can purchase sessions individually or in bundles, and they don’t expire. If you’re not ready to use a session, simply wait to schedule it and save it for a later date.
