What are the different types of Talkspace partnerships, and what is included in each type of partnership?

Talkspace collaborates with various U.S. health insurance providers, employers, organizations, schools, universities, colleges, and cities to make therapy more accessible. These partnerships fall under our Business-to-Business (B2B) accounts, in which users receive full or partial coverage. Discover more about each of our B2B account types below.

Health Insurance or Behavioral Health Benefits
Behavioral Health (BH) benefits are a type of health benefit covered by health insurance—similar to primary care coverage.

Talkspace partners with many U.S. health insurance plans to overcome mental health stigma and make therapy more accessible. A session in psychotherapy at Talkspace is defined as one live session or an asynchronous text messaging session that remains open until your therapy provider attests to its completion. Please note that your option of working with your therapy provider through live or asynchronous sessions varies depending on your health plan provider.

Some health insurance plans also cover psychiatric care, which focuses on the use of medication to treat mental health condition. At Talkspace, a psychiatry session is defined as one live session.

Please contact your health insurance provider to find out what Talkspace services are available to you.

Notes on Copays and Patient Responsibility

If your plan includes Talkspace as an In-Network provider, our services would be included under your Behavioral Health benefit and are unlimited, similar to any face-to-face sessions you might receive. Depending on your plan, either a deductible/coinsurance or a copay would apply until your out-of-pocket maximum is met. After applying the copay, deductible and/or coinsurance specific to your benefit plan, your insurance company covers the appropriate portion of the allowed amount; a maximum cost of service estimate is surfaced to members when signing up under insurance.

If you have questions about your patient responsibility, please contact your health plan directly and asking them about your out-of-pocket cost share for mental health services. Talkspace does not have access to your individual plan benefits and cannot confirm your final costs before a claim processes.

Employee Benefits or Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)
Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) are designed to offer short-term therapeutic support for employees experiencing work-related or personal challenges (such as marital or family conflicts, stress, grief, or other emotional issues) that are causing work distraction and affecting health, or mental and emotional well-being. EAP sessions are structured and solution-focused, with referrals given for longer term care, if recommended.

An EAP session in psychotherapy at Talkspace is defined as one live session or an asynchronous text messaging session that remains open for 7 days after you initiate it or until your Talkspace therapy provider otherwise attests to its completion. Please note that your option of working with your therapy provider through live or asynchronous sessions varies depending on your EAP plan.

Please check with your EAP to find out what Talkspace services are available to you and whether your coverage extends to your dependents and household members.

Please note, if you have been mandated to use EAP services by your employer, please contact your EAP directly (your employer or Human Resources can assist you with this). Talkspace cannot be used to fulfill any condition of employment.

Employer Sponsored Plans/Benefits
To foster a culture of wellbeing at work, Talkspace partners with various employers to make therapy more accessible to you.

During the partnership period, you're entitled to Talkspace services at no cost. This includes the option to enjoy unlimited messaging therapy sessions and/or a fixed number of live sessions every month or year, depending on your benefits.

If live sessions are part of your benefits, your live session credits might refresh each month on the date and time of your initial sign-up, expiring after 30 days if unused. Alternatively, your live session credits might refresh every year, allowing you to use them at your convenience at any time of the year. For more details about your benefits and coverage, please confirm with your benefits provider. If you have an active Talkspace account, follow the steps in How do I check my plan details? to see what's included in your plan.

For member wishing to schedule with a Talkspace therapy provider outside of the company's contract dates, you may be prompted to provide your payment information. Feel free to submit a request after logging in to your account for more information and assistance.

If your company has extended their partnership with Talkspace, you can revalidate your Talkspace benefits after they've expired by clicking the prompt that appears in your room, asking you to attest that you’re still an active member of the same company and therefore, eligible for continued benefits.

To see if you're covered under Talkspace partnerships, check out our current partners online, contact your benefits department, or call the member services number on the back of your insurance card.
