How Does Talkspace Work?

Talkspace is an online mental health care service that connects you to a dedicated, licensed provider in your state of residence. We offer both therapy and psychiatry services, and all care is delivered virtually through our secure, encrypted platform. You can find out more about our services here: Talkspace Services + Out-of-Pocket Pricing.

Depending on your specific plan and coverage, you'll have access to messaging sessions, live sessions, or both. Please note that psychiatry services are exclusively conducted via live sessions.

  • Live Sessions (Real-Time): These are pre-scheduled appointments where you meet with your provider via audio, video, or live chat. You can always message your provider directly in your room to discuss scheduling or check their availability.
  • Messaging Sessions (Asynchronous): You have 24/7 access to your private therapy room to leave text, video, or voice messages whenever something is on your mind. You can expect to hear back from your therapist within one working day, five days per week (which may include weekends).

To optimize your experience, we recommend discussing schedules with your provider early on to set clear expectations for response times and session availability.

NOTE: Talkspace should not be considered for meeting requirements for employment, school enrollment, disability, or legal documentation.
