I Used/Applied the Wrong Coverage

Mistakes happen! If you accidentally applied the wrong benefits to your Talkspace account, you can fix it in just a few steps.

  1. Verify your coverage

First, confirm your benefits with your provider to verify that Talkspace is included in your plan. For EAP or sponsored benefits, you can contact your benefits representative to verify your benefits. For insurance verification, call the number on the back of your insurance card.

  2. Update your coverage

Follow the steps in our How to Apply/Update Coverage article to make changes. If the option to update coverage is unavailable, check out this guide: No Option to Update Coverage or Add Service in My Account.

NOTE: After updating your coverage, a new room may be created. In most cases, you'll still be able to work with the same provider. Just be sure to use the new room going forward! You can always go back and view your past conversations in the previous room.

  3. Cancel the previous plan

To avoid billing confusion, cancel the plan that was created using the incorrect coverage immediately.

  4. Review your updated plan

Double-check your new plan details in your account to ensure everything is set up correctly for future sessions.

NOTE: Refunds are not available for services that have already been provided, and sessions can't be rebilled under different benefits.

If you mistakenly enrolled in an out-of-pocket plan, you can submit a superbill to your insurance, FSA, or HSA for possible reimbursement.

If you accidentally used insurance instead of free benefits like Employee Assistance Program (EAP) or sponsored coverage, we can't refund the billed services. However, you can request a superbill to submit to your FSA or HSA to pay for expenses your insurance doesn’t cover.
