How Do I Apply/Update My Coverage?

Jump to:

When to update your coverage

To ensure your sessions are properly billed and covered according to your insurance, EAP, or other benefits, and to continue receiving Talkspace services, it’s important to add or update your coverage information if:

  • You have new coverage.
  • Your existing coverage has expired, and you want to switch to a self-pay, out-of-pocket subscription.
  • Your existing coverage has expired or has been exhausted, and you want to use another form of coverage.
  • You signed up with the wrong coverage. After correcting your coverage, be sure to cancel any unused rooms to avoid billing errors and confusion.

How to tell if you have successfully updated your coverage

To confirm your coverage has been updated correctly, refer to this article: Where Can I Find Details About My Talkspace Plan, Payment, and Coverage?

After updating your coverage, a new room will be created. Please be sure to use this new room moving forward and don’t  worry—you’ll retain access to your past room and any messages shared between you and your provider.

Most of the time, you’ll be able to continue working with the same provider as long as they have availability. In a limited number of cases, you may be rematched with a new provider if your existing provider is unable to continue services due to conflicts with their licensure and your health plan, etc. Visit the Change Provider article for more details on why you might not be automatically matched with the same provider and to find out if you can be rematched with them.
