Invite my partner to my couples therapy room

To invite a partner to join you in couples therapy, follow the steps below.

  1. Confirm you have a couples therapy room

Go to Home (home.png) from the navigation bar. Under Your support team, check for a room with the "Couples Therapy" tag.

    Couples therapy tag

This tag indicates the room is set up to support partner invitations.

If you don't have a room with the "Couples therapy" tag, you’ll need to add or switch services first:

  2. Invite your partner

Open your couples therapy room to send an invitation to your partner.

    Add your Partner.png

You can invite your partner in one of the following ways:

    • Select the Add your partner to the room banner at the top of the room, or
    • Open Room Details by selecting the room details icon (room details icon.png), then choose Add your partner.

Follow the on-screen instructions to enter your partner’s email address. An invitation will be sent to that email.

    • If your partner already has a Talkspace account, use the email address associated with their account.
    • If your partner doesn’t have a Talkspace account, they’ll be prompted to create one using the same email address.

The invitation links are valid for 24 hours. You can revoke or resend the invitation if needed.

If you run into issues, visit Unable to Add Partner or Join Couples Therapy Room for troubleshooting support.

Remove my partner from my couples therapy room

Note for EAP members: If you have an active EAP plan and want to use remaining credits for a different service, please contact Support.

Once someone has been added to a couples therapy room, they generally can't be removed.

To start couples therapy with someone else or switch to individual therapy, simply add a new service.

If you’re finished with your current couples therapy plan, the primary partner (who set up the room) should cancel the plan. Remember, the old plan won’t be canceled automatically when you start something new.
