You can switch between individual therapy and couples therapy at any time. In most cases, this means deciding whether to keep your current service active and then adding the new service from your account. The steps below explain what to expect and how to smoothly transition between services.
How to switch services
When switching services, decide if you’d like to keep or end your current therapy service:
- Keep your current service: Add the new service alongside your existing one. You'll have two active services at the same time.
- End your current service: Cancel it first, then sign up for the new service. This will create a new room with a different provider for the selected service.
Note for EAP members: If you have an active EAP plan and want to use remaining credits for a different service, contact Support before canceling.
If you’re new to EAP and want to start couples therapy, follow the steps in How to Sign Up for Couples Therapy with EAP Coverage for guidance specific to your plan.
What happens next
When you add a new service, a new room will be created and you’ll be matched with a new provider who specializes in that type of care. In most cases, the same provider can’t work with you in both individual and couples therapy. This helps keep clear clinical boundaries and ensures each type of therapy stays focused and unbiased.
To start using your new service, go to the Schedule tab to book a session. If you have multiple active plans, you'll be able to choose which provider or service you want to book for.
