At Talkspace, you can access two types of billing documents: invoices and superbills.
Getting an Invoice
An invoice includes the session date, the date it was issued, and the amount billed. It contains less detail than a superbill.
To download an invoice:
- Log in at www.talkspace.com or on the Talkspace app.
- Click on Account (
) in the top-right corner of the screen.
- Select Transactions.
- Find the charge you want an invoice for and click on it.
- Click the download icon (
) to save the invoice to your device.
When you open your saved invoice, it might look like you still owe a payment. If you’ve already paid, just click Pay online and then Download receipt to see the amount you’ve paid.
NOTE: At this time, Medicare users on Talkspace don’t have the option to download an invoice.
Getting a Superbill
A superbill is a detailed document that includes all charges from your billing cycle or specific dates of service, along with medical procedure codes (CPT) and diagnosis codes (ICD-10). You can use a superbill to request reimbursement from your health plan or FSA/HSA provider. For more details, see our blog post: What is a Superbill for Therapy and Psychiatry?
Our superbills follow standardized billing requirements and can’t be customized with specific codes or language.
To request a superbill from Talkspace:
US based members who pay out of pocket for their Talkspace services are able to download superbills directly from our platform.
- For therapy subscriptions: Superbills become available 3 days after the end of each billing cycle, provided that both your full name and a diagnosis from your provider are on file.
- For psychiatry sessions or individually purchased live sessions (not part of a therapy subscription): Superbills are generated 3 days after the session is completed.
You can request to be notified when your superbill is available by updating your notification settings.
To view available superbills:
- Log in at www.talkspace.com or on the Talkspace app.
- Click on Account (
) at the top right.
- Select Payment and plan.
- Under your out-of-pocket plan, click View superbills.
If you are unable to view a superbill, it may be because:
- Your country of residence is outside the US.
- You are not renewing, have paused, or have canceled your therapy subscription.
If this applies to you, please contact our Support team with your full name and the month(s) or specific charge(s) you need documentation for.
Members who receive Talkspace through a third party, such as an employer, an organization, a health plan, etc., can request a superbill from our Support team.
We recommend reaching out every 3 or 6 months to request your superbills, as this helps ensure your request is processed without delay. Please send us a Support request with the following:
- Your full name
- Month(s) or specific charge(s) you are requesting documentation for
For members using insurance for Talkspace, superbills can only be provided once claims have been fully processed.
DISCLAIMER: Submitting a superbill to your insurance is a great way to try getting reimbursement for out-of-pocket costs, but reimbursement isn’t guaranteed. Because coverage varies, the services listed on your superbill may not be included under your specific plan. We recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm whether these expenses are eligible before submitting your superbill.
